Air Conditioner Recall

When you purchase a product and bring it into your home, you expect it to function safely and properly. You shouldn’t have to give a second thought as to whether it may be defective and cause harm to you and your family. Unfortunately, defective products are a fact of life and can cause severe injuries to people using them.

On June 14, 2011, the U.S. Product Safety Commission announced a voluntary recall of General Electric Zoneline air conditioners and heaters. A fire hazard in an electrical component of the heating system, which poses a fire hazard to consumers, has prompted the recall. These air conditioners and heaters are distributed by General Electric and manufactured by Sharp Corporation. Nearly 90,000 of these units have been recalled. Incidents have been reported where these products have caught on fire. The Commission has advised consumers to stop using these products immediately.
